Stupid Dreams

Stupid Dreams is a collaborative art and sound project that creates spaces for people to (re)connect through listening. At it’s core, it’s about building the kind world we want to live in after everything we’ve known begins to shift or fall apart. It harnesses the magic of small, shared acts of sonic attention and collective imagination to dream out loud, together.

Stupid Dreams is built from a simple, radical belief: listening is survival. We live in a time of unraveling, both vast and intimate. Whether it’s the death of a loved one or the collapse of an ecosystem, we’re watching the slow dissolution of a familiar world from the front row. Everything leaves behind remnants, though. Fragments of songs, objects that once mattered, dreams scrawled in the margins, etc. It’s the hum of what used to be. And those remnants are what survival sounds like.

The project exists through various mediums and events like Listening Circles, soundwalks, Dream Building Workshops, zines, sound installations, field recordings, collaborative storytelling, visual art, etc. It’s less about the medium, and more about sustained presence.

To begin, Stupid Dreams ‘zine, Issue #0, is available. The first Listening Circle will be announced soon.
